6 months

Logan had his 6 month check-up about 2 weeks ago. He weighed 16 lbs 7.5oz (50th percentile) and was 27 and 3/4 inches log (90-95 percentile). He has started solid foods and loves them! He has eaten cereal, peas, green beans, and avacados so far. Oh, and he loves it when I dab his teething toys on a lime. Wierd! He has two bottom teeth that broke through just before he turned 5 months. He is easily distracted so feeding him isn't always the easiest task. He holds his mouth wide open, it just isnt always easy chasing his mouth down before he looks somewhere else. I say he already has ADD. He hates to sit still and always wants to stand. If he is fussy most of the time you can let him stand up and hold his hands to let him walk around and he is good to go. With the help of Grandma he is successfully sleeping in his crib and is no longer swaddled. We still use the swing for naps sometimes but it is not his main sleeping place anymore. Woohoo! He sleeps anywhere from 8 to 10 hours at night now which is great! He is starting to immitate sounds that we make. He loves to blow raspberries and for some reason he loves to make a grunting noise At first we thought he was pooping but he does it frequently and will copy you if you do it to him. He has starting throwing toys and gets mad when he drops a toy that he can't reach anymore. He laughs uncontrolably when you tickle him when plaing peek-a-boo or when you poke his belly in the bath tub. He is definitely evolving from an infant to a little person. Logan has been to lots of football games this year. We go to watch my kids from school or my brother's team. He likes to be outside and see all the people. He still shows little interest in crawling. He is starting toget frustrated that he can not get around the way he wants to. He just wants to walk. Forget this crawling business. We went to Target and took some 6th month pictures. They turned out awesome. I dont have them to post, but hopefully soon. We are looking forward to Logan's first Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas! I love the fall and the holidays so I am hoping he will learn to love them too.

This is one of Logan's first experiences with cereal. At first he was more interested in the spoon than the food.

New House

We will be closing on our new house in less than a week! Our current house is still on the market and we have decided to list it as a lease as well as a sell. We got a good deal on a bigger house so we decided to take the opportunity to upgrade while the prices where good. The down side to that is trying to sell our house has been a little hard. We may have to lease for a year and try and sell again next year. We are planning on staying in our current house until we either lease or sell it unless it takes too long and then we will move over my Thanksgiving break regardless. We are not looking forward to packing and moving but I am looking forward to the new house. Here are some pictures of the outside of the new house. Its only about a mile from our current place.

My official 5 month shot. He has gotten a lot taller in the last month.

Daddy decided my hair-do was boring so he gave me a mohawk! How do I look???

5 months waaaay late!

Well, 6 months has flown by and I never posted at 5 months. The card reader on my computer was messed upand I was'nt able to transfer pictures for a while. Logan's 5th month was a crazy one. I started back to work and Logan stays with his Grandma (Shawn's mom). We are so lucky to have her wathcing him. I never have to worry about him as I know he is in great hands. Don't know what we would do without her. I officially graduated with my masters. Although I finished my coursework in May, official graduation was in August. I am hoping to start applying for principal jobs in a few years. The picture taking seemed to slow down this month, perhaps due to adding work into the equation but none the less here our a few pictures of our ever changing little man who is become more interested in everything we do.

I still enjoy my walks at night!

Hanging out in mom's locker room at school. Dad balanced me up in a locker.

Mini photo shoot at home. I kept trying to move his arms, but this is the pose he kept doing :)

At League City Park having breakfast with Aunt Lauren. This is my 'baby' sister who is already 12 and 5 ft 8. Not so little anymore.

I want to drink like a big boy!

6 month post to come in about 10 minutes so I don't forget!

4 month check up

Logan had his 4 month check-up and shots a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately the shots put a stop to our 8 hour sleeping stretch at night and it took him about a week to get back to his routine. He was so good at his appointment. The pediatrician commented on how 'social' he was. He loves to jabber all day (probably a trait from me). He weighed 14 lbs 2 oz (50th percentile) and was 25 3/4 inches long (90th percentile). Long and skinny (like his daddy).

All worn out from his shots!

4 months and counting...

This was the best shot we could get...every other one had those darn hands in his mouth.
Big boy holding his bottle.

The past four months have flown by and Logan is changing faster than ever. He is on the move now and will roll and wiggle all over. He is enjoying being on his stomach more and more and his legs move a million miles an hour so once he figures out how to crawl Im sure he will be all over the place. He has gotten good at using his hands to grab toys and now every goes straight to his mouth. We have really enjoyed all of his smiles and laughter at the smallest tickle or face we make at him. He is a good baby and travels to many different places with me. Sitting in the house all day is not easy for me so we often get out and go to various places. He is still stubborn about his naps and really only slees good swaddled and in his own room. Picky, Picky! Logan had his first dip in the pool at my friend Courtney's mom's house and he seemed to enjoy it.
I have really enjoyed my summer at home with Logan and as each day passes it is sad to think that soon I will have to go back to work. I really enjoy my job but I am going to miss him so much. We are very lucky that Shawn's mom will be watching him while we work and I know he will enjoy his time with his grandma.

July 4th

Logan's first 4th of July wasn't the most exciting day, but we still thought we'd snap a couple pictures of him in his 'First 4th of July' outfit. He was loving the camera that day and we got lots of good pictures. No fire works or us this year, but we know he will have many future years to see fireworks.

3 Months

Well, I am a little late on this one and I can't figure out which new things happened when. Logan took his first road trip to my cousins wedding in Corpus Christi in mid June. I got him a cute tie onesie with his name on it, but the only picture we took is on Shawn's phone so I will try and get that later. Logan is becoming more and more aware of people and his surroundings. He still loves his play mat and has become more interested in the disney channel and baby einstein movies. He is growing faster than ever. Tomorrow we go for his 4 month check up so we will have much more to share after that!

Pouty Face :(

I will do a 3 month update with some new pictures later, but for now I had to post this...
Logan has one of the most pathetic big frown pouty faces I think I've ever seen. He will be smiling away and then all of a sudden sticks that big lip out and look at you like his life is just so sad. Only to follow it up with a smile as soon as you talk to him or tickle him. These two pics were taken about 10 seconds apart. Such a little stinker!

Family Visit

This past Sunday Shawn's family came over and we had hamburgers and hotdogs and hung out for the day. It was nice to have family over. Uncle Shawn spent lots of time outside playing football with Peyton and Koby. Although Logan is not yet old enough to get out there and play with the boys, I am excited that he has boy cousins that will rough house with him one day. Aunt Stacey and her fiance Steven also came to visit. Aunt Stacey is the one who diagnosed Logan's breathing issues before the doctor's. It was a great day and a great start to summer.
There is also a picture of Logan in his ECU t-shirt. Its a bit big right now, but we wanted to get a shot of daddy's little pirate. We are hoping to be able to take Logan to North Carolina this fall to see a game!

Two Months

Well, we have surpassed the two month mark. It has been a very eventful month. We took a couple of trips to the doctor and to the ENT in order to figure out what was causing Logan's breathing to sound so bad. The ultimate diagnosis was laryngomalacia. Sounds scary, but its not. Basically, the cartilage that makes up his windpipe is a little floppy and causes his breathing to sound bad. He has a mild case and should grow out of it by 6-9 months. It doesn't hurt him and it doesn't affect his oxygen intake.
At his 8 week check up he was 11lbs 0.5 oz and was 23 inches long. His height was in the 90th percentile and his weight was in the 50th. Long and skinny. The doctor switched us to soy formula and it was like we had a new baby. He had becmone very unhappy an hour or so after eating and since he has been on the soy he has been much better. He also got his shots. He cried less after shots than he did after the did their physical exam. Go figure! He only got a slight fever for a couple of hours after his shots and the tylenol helped him and us sleep.
He still wakes up once in the middle of the night to eat and has started to nap better during the day. Usually he takes one long nap and a few short naps a day. He still hates going down to sleep and is very vocal about it.
This month we have noticed a tremendous amount of growth in his alertness and strength. He smiles a lot, can track objects and people with his eyes, and has mini-laughed a couple of times. He definitely knows when we are in the room and when we leave. He has lost interest in his mat which used to be his favorite toy. Yesterday I bought a jumper/activity gym thing and I am hoping he likes it. His legs are very strong but he hates being on his stomach so we may be lagging behind in the arm strength.
I went back to work for a week but I am now home for the summer. I also recently completed all components of my masters degree including passing my state principal's exam!!! I am now certified to be a principal... scary thought huh?!?
We are heading to Corpus Christi in 2 weeks for my cousins wedding, so wish us luck on our first road trip with Logan.
Excited to see what the next month brings!

One Month!!!

Well, we made it through month one! Logan is doing great. He likes to take walks and play on his mat. He is definitely becoming more alert and observant. He is a good eater and a good sleeper at night time, but has some issues with what to do with himself when he is awake. He has about a five minute attention span before he gets cranky and wants to do something new. He is also a big sleep fighter. We say the bigger the fit the longer the nap. Even when his eyes are closed he will let out a couple of big screams before finally giving in to sleep. I think he is afraid he will miss something. He loves bath time so we take extra long baths at night. He is also getting much stronger. Shawn likes to work with him on his 'muscles'. His grandma's have been a big help to me during the day as I am trying to finish my final paper for my masters degree. Only 2 weeks left! We have not yet been able to catch smile on camera and although it may just be gas it is still cute to us. He also went to his first baseball game Friday night to watch his Uncle Kyle play. He did suprisingly well and we made it through the whole game. We decided to take a picture of him each month to see his growth (I stole this idea from a friend of mine's blog). We are looking forward to seeing what new things Logan has in store for us in month number 2!

Birth of Baby Logan

Nine days past his due date, baby Logan finally made his arrival on Thursday March 31st, 2011 at 11:29pm. We went in for our scheduled induction around midnight on March 30th and we were certain we were coming home with an April Fool's day baby, but around 11pm on March 31st he started showing some signs of distress and I came down with a fever of 100.5, so the doctor decided it was best to take him by c-section. He weighed 8lbs 5oz and was 21 inches long. We spent our first few days in the hospital but finally made it home Sunday afternoon. Overall, he is a great baby. He pretty much just eats, sleeps, and poops. On his 3rd night home he slept for a little over 5 hours during the night. We were very excited! Our cats have adjusted well and spend time wherever we are. They sniff him but other than that they are not to interested in him. Shawn has been home all week and it has been great to share this time together during his first week. Monday he will go back to work and it will be just the two of us during the day. I will be off of work until May 31st. I will go back for a week and then be off all summer until next school year.

I am hoping to keep up with this blog regularly so that we can look back and remember milestones and events in our little man's life. We have made it through the first week and are excited for all the things that the future weeks have in store.
